The Dallas Holocaust Museum/Center for Education and Tolerance is gravely concerned for the Rohingya people in Myanmar and will not be silent as hatred and violence against this Muslim ethnic minority continue to escalate. Conditions for the Rohingya in Myanmar have been difficult for many years but have worsened dramatically since a savage military crack-down against them began on August 25th, 2017. In response, more than 370,000 Rohingya have fled into Bangladesh in the past month.

We call upon the government of Myanmar, and Aung San Suu Kyi as the effective head of state, to end the denial of human rights, and the persecution and murder of Rohingya men, women, and children.

We urge the global community to insist that the government and military of Myanmar reverse their long practice of discrimination and violence against the Rohingya and treat them as all people deserve to be treated–as human beings.
