Statement on the Attack on Israel

The Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum strongly condemns the vicious attacks carried out by Hamas on Israel, during which terrorists fired thousands of rockets, invaded Israeli towns and took hostages of innocent civilians, including women, children, and the elderly. The attacks have resulted in the tragic loss of innocent lives and injuries to thousands.

We stand in solidarity with the people of Israel during this challenging time and express our heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones, and we pray for those who have been taken hostage in these senseless acts. Hamas is a self-avowed Islamic terrorist organization that has the primary goal of annihilating the Jewish nation state of Israel and we strongly affirm Israel’s right to defend itself against this heinous threat.

As a museum dedicated to teaching the history of the Holocaust and advancing human rights to combat prejudice, hatred, and indifference, we know it is critical that Jews have a nation state to which they can freely immigrate when they face oppression and persecution in their home countries. A world without Israel would be a world unsafe for Jews.
