Statement on the First Phase of a Ceasefire Agreement

The Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum celebrates the agreement between the Israeli government and Hamas, the first phase of a ceasefire negotiated by President Donald Trump and other global leaders. The past two years, since Hamas’ unprovoked terrorist attack on Israel, have brought misery and suffering for everyone in the region. We commend all involved for taking this step forward and urge leaders to continue negotiations with the goal of a lasting peace.

Our thoughts are with the families of the hostages who were murdered as they find some solace in burying their loved ones in their homeland. We welcome the surviving hostages home and hope and pray they will find strength, resilience, and healing following their captivity. Our hearts go out to the civilians in Gaza who were tragically caught in the devastation. We pray for humanitarian relief and assistance with rebuilding homes and lives throughout the region.

Hope is a miraculous force for good, and it has been in short supply for the past two years. Let us all commit to ensuring that our hope turns into action that will lead to security and stability.
